While I haven’t had much to say lately. I have been keeping my eyes open on new things. One of which is this Combiner Wars Upgrade which gives PerfectEffect a bit of a run as it is SO Much different and in my opinion better… Ignoring the head, which I can get over and even replace later… Check this thing out…

3DPrintron has a wonderful head sculpt that they have done that is now starting to show up all over the net.

Really the only thing this head requires is a slight amount of paint and your all set. Overall there is some significant improvements giving him a bit more of an IDW look tuff guy look.

If you like the more “rustic” appeal use the lower quality ABS plastic, as it is cheaper, but also will give that more dirty look as LlamaGod’s depicts. If you want a more smooth finish then you will want to go with the Frosted Extreme Detailed.

Yes most of these are re-used molds, but even still they seem to look excellent. I am expecting many third party add-ons for this guy that should enhance his overall problems. Considering the core of him “Onslaught” is using the same Voyager as Defensor.

Finally after months and months of waiting. A DECENT upgrade kit beyond what we can already get on Shapeways which is “ok” but requires tons of painting/sanding and filling to make it smooth like a normal toy. Least not forget trying to match up the paint colors…

S.N.D. Primo Vitalis upgrade kit follows the look and feel of the current IDW comic book series. Even with this upgrades attached he is fully transformable, and is still able to combine with other  others!

He includes the following:

• 1x Gun
• 1x Sword
• 1x Axe
• 1x New Head
• 1x Combiner Mode Head
• 2x Shoulder Pads
• 1x Chest
• 1x New Waist
• 2x Extended Thighs
• 1x Pair of articulated hands.
• 2x New Feet

The Chosen Prime says he should be ready by November, but with all these things it really is hard to say if it will be here… So hopefully definitely by Christmas!

Combiner Wars series is starting to get a rather lengthy list of complaints across most the internet. Firstly I would like to say part of the Internet is broken, but on the other half it is working just fine…

Combiner Wars Repaint Compliants!

While this argument is infiltrating the communities a lot lately and while it does seem to be a valid argument. As Hasbro and Takara do seem to abuse certain molds more than others. It would also seem that it seems early to be re-using molds. Which based on seeing some info graphs that exist right now this is not completely untrue. However the argument on the flip side is that we have also gotten a lot of wonderful Transformers that have been long awaited.

So looking at it from the perspective of mold re-use… Here is an info graph that was done.

On average here it does seem to be a good bit of mold re-use. (To me is expected…) Considering they have pretty much released or about to release nearly every main character in the line. Now yes it is rather depressing that the Fan Built combiner is a retool with slight tweaks instead of a completely new molds and or even just getting more retooling than what it is…

So sure looking at that negative aspect, but lets flip this around slightly.

What have we gotten from this year?

– Superion

– Menasor

– Defensor

– Leader Class Megatron AND Armada Megatron! (Back to back! Yes its the same mold…)

– Thundercracker, (Starscream and Skywarp also on the way… All same mold but guess what this is common!) I honestly will probably skip these because I feel MP route is better. And I do not want a retool of Jetfire.

– Ultra Magnus

– Titan Class Devastator – Come on now quit complaining about the tiny problems…

Just naming a few of them and not to mention the two MP’s lined up already.

Bluestreak and Starscream! Bluestreak is also already out and at Toys R Us. Starscream is said to be coming out sometime next month.

Overall while its easy to be frustrated with the combiners, so many other things here have been released that make this line a great piece of work. If you recall several other lines have been riddled with problems especially Movie Lines! So while these complaints are valid at the same time we have gotten so many great new molds and Transformers that easily out weights the reuse of molds.

Perfect Effect has released additional photos of the up and coming PE 06  (Devastator hands, mix-master cab, new shovel for Scavenger, Hook extension for Hook, new heads including a Prowl head.) and PE 07 (guns and hands for individual figures…)

Overall the improvements here are VERY impressive. Making for an interesting option for those who went with Hasbro’s. I myself was able to get him for under $100 which makes for him to be just as awesome as the SDCC and Takara’s which will not offer as many unique changes to the figure.

PE has been a reliable source of 3rd Party Addons that have had excellent QC with no complaints that I am aware of. So this upgrade is one to not skip out on. Even those going with the SDCC or Takara may find parts to this upgrade that are a cannot miss.

Still no release date, but knowing PerfectEffect they are probably not far from an official date.

Combiner Wars Optimus Prime has received some of the most criticism for being really a overall terrible voyager figure. This year we received a Leader Class Megatron and Galvatron (Same mold.) But yet we only received a (ish) Voyager Optimus Prime that combines. This upgrade set from Beezleboss Studios brings the figure to a closer size of a Leader Class (no conformation yet…) However even still it looks incredible!

This is so far the second group / person I have seen to work on moding him. And let me say this one is the ONE!

Hasbro To Shop has a small ticker announcement with the date that the SDCC exlusives will be available on their store. (July 28th, 2015)

This includes Devastator, and the Fembot Team with (MASSIVE WEAPONS!)

Yesterday we finally got to see Victorian in all its Christmas colors… I give you the official shots from Hasbro. Needless to say the reaction to this toys colors is on the side of “disturbed.” It would not surprise me to see fans do tons of “repainting” and customizations to this as on Transformer Addicts! One fan has already digi-bashed her in several variants that look TONS better… (More on this later.)

So as it has become abundantly clear and I think Hasbro has taken notice to how many 3P, 3D printed, and so forth add-ons have been thrown at their Combiner Wars figures… Hasbro’s hands and feet straight up are ugly! Combating this for the first time… They have given us a new set of feet and hands for Victorian.

TFW2005 shows a few nice detailing pictures of “Ankle Tilts!”
